Mec, Inc. was contracted to perform lead paint abatement and demolition of a 450’ antenna tower at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The project was made more difficult because the tower was adjacent to buildings that had to be protected from any falling debris or accidental drop of components. Plywood and poly was used to cover and protect 80,000 square feet of roofing during the work. Disassembly of the tower was accomplished by disconnecting and lowering the tower in 30’ sections that weighed approximately 4,000 pounds each.
