U.S. Park Commission
Mec, Inc. was contracted by the U.S. Park Commission to perform lead paint abatement and re-painting at the Devil’s Island Light House on Lake Superior at the Apostle Islands State Park. The work involved protecting a priceless Fernell Lens that was used to project the light of an oil lamp many miles. The island had no running water or utilities of any kind. MEC, Inc. workers had to take all equipment to the island including water purifiers, generators, blasting equipment etc. The workers actually stayed on the island during the week and only left occasionally on weekends to go back to the main land in Wisconsin.

MEC, Inc. was contracted to perform lead paint inspections on a series of satellite tracking stations positioned around the globe. The inspections had to be performed in 30 days and included workers to be sent to Colorado, California, Hawaii, Guam, the Kwajalein Island in the south Pacific, Singapore, England, Greenland and the Ascension Island off the coast of Africa Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and New Hampshire. The schedule was extremely demanding. All work was performed on time and to the satisfaction of the customer.
